go leafs
Firstly let me say the rumours that Rick Nash is headed to the leafs is pure dog ship.
They don't need him or his cap even pro rated if rangers eat half his salary no thanks.

Have to ask. Not long ago I think there were stats making AV the most successful coach in Rangers history, now with the stats about Lundqvist, can it be said thanks to the goalie, the 'coach' has set that record?
Not sure there's going to be enough quality FA to fill all the holes this fire sale will make. I wonder what types of hockey trades can be had? Does anyone expect Nash to get you 4 pieces of gold? Grabner will get a pick 'probably', the rest???
McDonagh will/should get a player, Zucc - shouldn't be traded, Millar, what's best case a young player of equal stature? |

I think we should be looking at picks and prospects for Nash and Grabs, either some combination of a 1st and mid level prospect or a higher end prospect.
When it comes to McD I think a roster player plus good prospect (something like Connor and Stanley from Winn) would be better than just picks.
If Zucc were to be traded, which I hope not, I think it should be of a similar type deal as McD, young roster player with a prospect or pick.
Miller, who the hell knows. I would like to keep him and just think him and AV can’t stand each other and it’s affecting his game. Hopefully AV is gone next year and Miller steps his game up. |

Jan, knowing the direction of the team hopefully makes writing these a little easier than just writing about a poop show
Thanks for taking the time to write these with everything else you have going on |

Looks like the infestation of trolls is already starting
Nash to Nashville or Dallas looks like a high probability, I’d like back Tolvanen of course but if it were just him you can forget a pick higher than a 3rd, I’d be quite ok with Fabbro and a 1st, hope St. Louis gets involved, still prefer Kyrou and a 1st
Grabner would be a good fit in Winnipeg to me, a 1st and Roslovic would be great
Mac to Tampa for a 1st, 3rd that changes to a 2nd if they win the Cup and Raddysh, don’t know how many teams are lining up, could be a windfall for us if there are multiple teams
Miller to me has to go and he could bring back something very good considering his age
Rangers have the goods to sell and make this a quick turnaround, maybe not next season but 19-20 when there’s a lock out of course |

I've wanted this to happen for a while.
Nash, Hayes, Vesey, Kreider, Staal, Lundqvist, Miller, McD, Zucc, Holden and more.
Any and all of them gone would be a good start.
A lot of guys there, I know, but I've not been impressed with these guys for quite some time.
Just hope they don't make a bunch of changes and then go and sign Kovalchuk to a stupid contact. |

I, like you, Jan, still cannot understand how they will now attempt a predominant youth movement plan, without FIRST replacing this coaching staff, in key with A.V. who's history of both wanting to, and working with youth is insufficient at best, if not closer to zero.
Also, in initiating it within any day, and for now through the trade deadline of Feb. 26th, they will not take advantage of making these sudden moves for what would best benefit a new coaching staff, should in key, an already established head coach be brought in for next season. That applies to both those players arriving, as well as who will be dealt away. Maybe a new coach can get greater success out of a Hayes, Miller, & Vesey, other than A.V. could under his system, and players' handling, to name 3 of their RFA's organization wide, who have seen action under A.V. up here this season?
As to that "A.V. era Rangers 5 on 5 Goals For vs. Goals Against" statistic, all that matters now in the end is that in 54 games played this season, they have 157 GF and 168 GA, for an unexpected and very disappointing combined net (-11) Goal Differential.
Even worse, their shortage of forwards' production & required two way play, along with their troubles on the back line, both defensively and offensively, have resulted in them scoring 2 goals or fewer in 26 games (or 48% of their 54 games).
That's why in last 17 of their 29 overall losses, they have only 29 Goals Scored, as opposed to 68 Goals Against, for a horrendous (-39) Goal Differential (or a -2.29 goals diff. per loss) in these last 17 losses, which is unheard of in the Hank era, who alone, has saved A.V.'s job as best & as long as he could here. |

You guys know better than me, but who will replace the guys you trade? The FA for centres is skinny in top 6 & they may even resign with their respective teams (although I believe you guys have a shot at Tavares), Dmen also - they're 2 positions the Pens are weak on also. |

Larry Brooks says Brendan Smith went to 8 weddings last summer, including his own, and of course went on a honeymoon.
Now he's taking a 2nd honeymoon in gorgeous downtown Hartford. |

He stupidly came to cam overweight. That was four months ago and can’t explain the entire regression we saw this season. |

if I were Tampa, I'd be looking at Rick Nash too
Tampa is the worst penalty killing team of all the real contenders and he could help them enormously there |

As a lifelong Ranger fan, I have to say this impressed me. They are finally trying to do it the right way, instead of putting bandaids on the problem. That is something this organization has never done. They have always tried to stay relevant while getting better, afraid of just starting from scratch.
I also like the transparency, and no I don't think it is the Rangers showing too much of their hand either.
I am excited for what may come of this and it seems like many other true ranger fans on this board are as well, something we can ALL agree on for once!?
BTW Vin.... MILLER STAYS, not up for debate! |

obviously, the Islanders should EITHER trade Tavares OR trade for some pieces to help him out for a playoff run.
Islanders doing neither one is just asinine

That letter by the Rangers was their way of saying "we're going to make a bunch of trades; like it or not...even though we are only a few points out of playoff position."
The wording in that letter means McD and especially Zucc are about to be dealt. Nash and Grabs are obvious; as is Holden and DD.
Just get the deals done and maybe we can enjoy the last 25+ games remaining and not drink ourselves to death watching. |
